Crimson Flagellant

Crimson flagellants are feral blood-mages who treat their bodies as spellbooks, sacrifice, and weapon. They carve permanent sigils into skin, drain their own blood, tear away flesh, and graft stolen remains onto themselves to produce supernatural speed, strength, resilience, and grotesque new abilities. Their power is immediate and brutal, but every ritual increases their physical ruin and threatens to fracture their mind. A crimson flagellant cannot recover through ordinary healing; they must consume living flesh or freshly dead tissue to rebuild what they have sacrificed.

Spellcasting & Powers

None. The Crimson Flagellant uses self-inflicted wounds, Blood Dice, mutations, grafts, and ritual anatomy rather than conventional spellcasting.

Multiclassing

A character entering this class must possess Body or Willpower 50+ and survive the Crimson Initiation. Multiclass characters gain Blood Reserve, Cannibal Reconstitution, and The First Cut, but their maximum Blood Dice is equal to half their Crimson Flagellant level, rounded up. Other classes may treat visible Grafts as social disadvantages.

Proficiencies

Light and medium armor, improvised weapons, natural weapons, ritual knives, field surgery, anatomy, intimidation, tracking, and occult blood rites. The class begins with a ritual blade and a surgeon's kit.

Training & Initiation

Training begins with anatomy, pain conditioning, battlefield medicine, and the memorization of blood-signs. Initiation requires the candidate to carve a permanent personal sigil, drain enough blood to approach death, and survive while consuming their first piece of sentient or monstrous flesh. A failed initiation may cause permanent mutation, insanity, or death.

Societal Perception

Most ordinary people consider crimson flagellants dangerous monsters, regardless of their intentions. Rural communities may tolerate one if it protects them from worse creatures, while cities often outlaw their rituals and confiscate their tools. Scholars and battlefield physicians sometimes seek their knowledge in secret. Children commonly recognize them by their scar patterns before adults do.
