The Way Of The Jade Emperor

Spellcasting & Powers

None. The Way of the Jade Emperor uses martial techniques, supernatural movement, Force damage, and Focus-powered aura effects rather than spells.

Multiclassing

No special multiclassing restrictions beyond the Monk's normal requirements. A character must meet the Monk's Dexterity and Wisdom requirements to multiclass into or out of Monk. Jade Emperor Ascendant uses Focus Points and does not grant spellcasting.

Proficiencies

No additional weapon, armor, tool, or saving throw proficiencies. You gain training in ceremonial court forms, battlefield etiquette, and the use of jade prayer seals, but these are narrative proficiencies unless the DM treats them as an appropriate Artisan's Tool or gaming set.

Training & Initiation

A candidate must first master the Three Quiet Forms: stillness under insult, movement under threat, and mercy after victory. Initiation requires protecting a community through one full crisis without accepting payment or public command. The final rite is performed beneath open sky, where the student must strike a jade tablet hard enough to crack it while leaving the hand uninjured. The master then teaches the secret of treating every battlefield as a court in which the monk is responsible for the verdict.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often see these monks as reassuring protectors until they witness Jade Dominion or an enemy being thrown aside by an invisible command. Rulers may seek their counsel, fear their independence, or attempt to weaponize their reputation. In communities scarred by war, a Jade Emperor is often welcomed as a living promise that strength can serve peace.
