Threadbinder

Threadbinders perceive invisible relationships between creatures, objects, memories, and places. Their magic strengthens allies, redirects hostile forces, and turns the bonds between things into conduits for protection or harm. A Threadbinder is less a traditional blaster than a battlefield architect, deciding who is connected, who is isolated, and where power should flow.

The Threadbinder

Spellcasting & Powers

Full spellcasting progression using Intelligence as the spellcasting ability. Threadbinders prepare spells from the Threadbinder spell list after a Long Rest and use spell slots according to the standard 2024 full-caster progression. Their signature powers are Living Bond and Resonance, which reward coordinated positioning and careful Reaction use.

2nd-Level Spells

Aid Reinforces the life-force shared by a small group.
Arcane Lock Binds a portal shut through a persistent magical relationship.
Calm Emotions Smooths hostile emotional links within a group.
Misty Step Briefly follows an invisible thread to a nearby space.
Warding Bond A direct expression of Threadbinder magic, sharing protection between two creatures.

3rd-Level Spells

Beacon of Hope Creates a stabilizing network that improves healing and resolve.
Counterspell Snaps the connection between an enemy spell and its intended effect.
Dispel Magic Unravels a magical effect by severing its sustaining links.
Haste Accelerates a creature by tightening its connection to its own potential.
Sending Carries a message along a remembered personal connection.

4th-Level Spells

Arcane Eye Extends perception along a remote magical thread.
Banishment Severs a creature’s temporary connection to the current plane.
Dimension Door Uses a strong spatial relationship to bridge two distant points.
Freedom of Movement Prevents hostile magic from tightening around the target.
Polymorph Temporarily rewrites the target’s connection to its physical form.

5th-Level Spells

Arcane Hand Forms a remote construct connected to the caster by a visible force-thread.
Hold Monster Locks a creature’s body in place by binding its motion.
Legend Lore Reaches through historical and personal connections to uncover knowledge.
Rary’s Telepathic Bond Creates a durable communication network between multiple minds.
Wall of Force Weaves a nearly impassable boundary from interlocking force-lines.

Multiclassing

Ability Score Minimum: Intelligence 13. When multiclassing into Threadbinder, you gain Light armor proficiency and proficiency with one skill from the Threadbinder skill list. You gain no additional saving throw proficiencies. For spell slots, use the Multiclass Spellcaster table; Resonance Points and Living Bond uses are gained only from Threadbinder levels.

Training & Initiation

A prospective Threadbinder studies under a mentor, college, monastery, or living tradition for years. Initiation requires forming a voluntary bond with another person and sustaining it through a ritual that reveals the candidate’s first personal thread. Those who attempt the rite through coercion usually develop unstable or harmful magic.

Societal Perception

People often view Threadbinders as useful but unsettling. Their gifts make them valued as healers, mediators, and guides, while their ability to perceive and alter connections makes them objects of suspicion among nobles, criminals, and anyone hiding a secret.
