Carder

Carders are full casters who weaponize possibility through enchanted playing cards. Rather than memorizing fixed spells, they prepare a living deck whose cards respond to intent, emotion, and tactical risk. A Carder can fling destructive sigils, teleport through a card placed seconds earlier, create deceptive duplicates, and build temporary barriers from converging suits. Their greatest strength is flexible battlefield control: every turn is a choice between committing cards to immediate effects or preserving them for a more devastating combination. At high levels, a Carder can open a radiant gate and make the battlefield obey the rules of a private hand of fate.

Spellcasting & Powers

Full caster. Carder powers use Intelligence for attack rolls and save DCs. A Carder knows all powers on the Carder spell list but can only prepare a limited number according to the campaign’s normal Solo Leveling advancement rules. Most powers require playing or discarding cards, making the class strongest when it manages its hand deliberately.

Spade Lance Fire a concentrated card of destructive force.

Royal Hand

Dealer’s Reversal Redirect a damaging attack toward another valid target.
Orbiting Blades Summon cards that automatically strike creatures entering your range.
Vanishing Room Temporarily remove a creature from the battlefield into a pocket illusion.
Fourfold Verdict Deal different damage riders based on the suits played.

Impossible Hand

Original Creation: Fracture Gate Open a violent portal that tears through an area and displaces creatures.
Original Creation: Infinite Decoy Fill the battlefield with convincing spectral versions of yourself.
Original Creation: Red Dominion Claim a zone where your cards orbit, block movement, and amplify your spells.
Original Creation: Final Cut Mark one target for a delayed devastating strike that ignores most defenses.

Multiclassing

To multiclass into Carder, a character should have Intelligence 13 and must acquire or awaken a living deck through a gate, ritual, or personal revelation. Carder levels grant full access to the Living Deck only when the character has Carder as an active class; other classes may use the deck as a mundane focus but cannot draw or play cards through Carder features.

Proficiencies

Light armor, simple weapons, playing cards, arcane foci, gate phenomena, and one artisan or performance tool. Carders are trained in magical theatrics, tactical prediction, and reading supernatural intent.

Training & Initiation

A prospective Carder must survive a personal ordeal involving uncertainty: a rigged duel, a collapsing gate, a forbidden gamble, or a choice with no safe answer. During the ordeal, the initiate creates a blank card from condensed mana and imprints it with a deliberate intention. Training teaches rapid card manifestation, suit symbolism, spatial calculation, and emotional control. Most Carders awaken between levels 1 and 5, but powerful decks often evolve through quests, boss victories, and contact with anomalous gates.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people find Carders mesmerizing but unsettling. Their blank cards are associated with gambling, prophecy, and dangerous gates. Wealthy patrons seek their predictions, hunters respect their battlefield control, and authorities often fear that a skilled Carder can make evidence, identities, or escape routes disappear.
