Dragon Soulstone Touched

Dragon Soulstone Touched rangers are living anchors for ancient draconic essence sealed within crystallized soulstones. Their drakes are not trained animals but projected guardians, formed from elemental memory and sustained by the ranger's own vitality. As combat intensifies, the soulstone absorbs magical energy, allowing the ranger and drake to unleash increasingly spectacular bursts of power. This bond grants protection, mobility, and battlefield control while preserving the ranger's martial versatility and half-casting.

Spellcasting & Powers

You use the Ranger's normal Spellcasting feature. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for Ranger spells. Your draconic powers are magical but are not separate spellcasting and do not require spell slots unless a feature says otherwise.

4th-Level Spells

Stoneskin Crystalline scales briefly spread across the target's body.

5th-Level Spells

Conjure Volley A barrage of attacks carries the drake's elemental force across an area.
Commune with Nature The soulstone reads the deep magical memory of the surrounding land.
Steel Wind Strike The ranger and drake synchronize a series of impossible long-range strikes.

Multiclassing

A character multiclassing into Ranger must meet the normal Ranger multiclassing prerequisites. Soulstone features use Wisdom for saving throw DCs and attack modifiers. The Dragon Soulstone Drake is a subclass feature and does not count as an independent character, creature, or spellcaster for multiclassing purposes.

Proficiencies

You gain proficiency with the Arcana skill if you do not already have it. You gain proficiency with jeweler's tools or another artisan's tool used to cut and repair crystal. You are trained to identify draconic soulstone signatures and the elemental type of a bonded drake.

Training & Initiation

A candidate must be accepted by a dormant soulstone, usually after surviving contact with an ancient draconic relic or completing a vigil at a resonant site. During initiation, the candidate places the stone against their chest while mentors guide them through controlled breathing, weapon drills, and exposure to the stone's elemental visions. If the bond succeeds, the stone permanently attunes to the ranger's life force and the first drake manifestation occurs.

Societal Perception

Many people view Soulstone Touched rangers as heroic protectors, but the drake's ancient intelligence makes others uneasy. Rural communities may treat them as omens or sacred guardians, while scholars, treasure hunters, and rulers often seek to control or study their soulstones.
