Interface

An Interface is a living bridge between humanity and a hyper-advanced artificial intelligence. Through airborne self-replicating nanobots, hacked infrastructure, and electromagnetic manipulation, the Interface produces effects that appear magical. The AI cannot directly act through the physical world with precision, so it relies on the Interface's senses, choices, and body.

Spells are represented as network exploits, nanobot deployments, electromagnetic manipulation, sensor spoofing, and predictive computation. Bandwidth Charges provide short-rest resource management for Signal Modulations.

Chain Lightning The network selects and links multiple conductive targets.

Root-Level Protocols

Teleport The AI coordinates a matter-transfer network or extreme spatial displacement.
Forcecage A precise containment lattice surrounds the target.
Plane Shift The AI opens a gateway to a distant dimensional network.
Reverse Gravity Localized gravitational vectors are altered.

Multiclassing

Prerequisite: Intelligence 13. When multiclassing into Interface, you gain proficiency with light armor and one tool of your choice. You gain no additional saving throw proficiencies.

Proficiencies

Light armor, simple weapons, one tool of your choice, and two languages or one language plus one technological tool. At 15th level, you gain Constitution saving throw proficiency if you do not already have it.

Training & Initiation

Most Interfaces begin through accidental exposure to a prototype nanobot cloud, a neural implant, a compromised medical system, or an AI seeking a biological proxy. Initiation involves surviving the first synchronization, learning to distinguish personal thoughts from predictive prompts, and developing enough trust—or resistance—to act while connected. No two AIs use the same initiation process, and some candidates are selected without consent.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often mistake Interfaces for miracle workers, hackers, witches, or walking disasters. They are welcomed during emergencies but feared when lights flicker, devices move on their own, or private information becomes public. Governments and corporations may seek to recruit, control, or eliminate them.
