Nemesis Patron

A Nemesis Patron does not grant power for worship, obedience, or simple service. It forges a pact around opposition. The warlock becomes the living counterstroke to a chosen enemy, drawing strength from pursuit, rivalry, and the moment an adversary overextends. Nemesis warlocks excel at isolating one dangerous foe, punishing that foe's successes, and turning a personal vendetta into battlefield control.

3rd-Level Spells

Counterspell A direct answer to an enemy's most dangerous magical move.

Fear Projects the dread of an inevitable reckoning across a battlefield.
Hunger of Hadar Seals off escape routes and punishes enemies who cluster together.

4th-Level Spells

Banishment Temporarily removes a dangerous foe from the confrontation.
Dimension Door Allows pursuit across impossible gaps and sudden battlefield ambushes.
Locate Creature Tracks a known quarry even after it flees beyond sight.
Phantasmal Killer Transforms a Nemesis's personal fear into psychic torment.

5th-Level Spells

Scrying Maintains pressure on an enemy who hides beyond the battlefield.
Hold Monster Paralyzes a powerful foe for the party's finishing assault.
Modify Memory Rewrites the testimony or recollection of a defeated adversary.
Far Step Makes the warlock nearly impossible for a chosen enemy to outrun.

Multiclassing

Requires Charisma 13 to multiclass into or out of Warlock. You gain the Warlock class features granted by multiclassing, but this subclass does not grant additional weapon or armor proficiencies.

Proficiencies

No additional weapon, armor, or tool proficiencies. You gain training in tracking, investigation, threat assessment, and exploiting an identified enemy's habits.

Training & Initiation

A candidate becomes a Nemesis warlock by naming an enemy before a supernatural witness: a patron, ancestral spirit, sentient relic, or extradimensional power. The initiate must then survive a symbolic confrontation in which victory is less important than proving they will continue the pursuit after defeat. The pact is sealed when the initiate accepts that their patron may define the enemy, but never the meaning of the hunt.

Societal Perception

People often respect Nemesis warlocks as protectors against relentless threats, but many distrust them as dangerous obsessives. Authorities may seek their help against fugitives while fearing that any official disagreement could become a personal vendetta.
