Spellcasting & Powers

None. The Barbarian uses martial techniques, battle trance abilities, instinctive reactions, and extraordinary physical endurance rather than spells.

Multiclassing

Archetype access grants training in light and medium armor, simple and martial weapons, and one Barbarian skill. The archetype grants Survivor's Fury as a 1st-level feat, but its damage bonus and resistance are reduced by 1. A character must meet the class's Strength or Constitution prerequisite chosen at character creation.

Proficiencies

Trained in Barbarian class DC, Perception, light armor, medium armor, unarmored defense, simple weapons, martial weapons, and one skill from the Barbarian skill options. Expert Fortitude and Will saves at 1st level; expert defenses at 1st level. Proficiency increases to expert Perception and defenses at 3rd level, master Fortitude at 7th, master Perception and unarmored defense at 9th and 11th, master Will at 15th, master martial weapons at 17th, and legendary unarmored defense at 19th.

Training & Initiation

A Barbarian is usually trained through hardship rather than formal schooling. Initiates learn weapon craft, endurance, battlefield movement, and the discipline required to turn fury into deliberate protection. Lastblood warriors traditionally complete an ordeal in which they defend a vulnerable companion, settlement, or ancestral relic while exhausted and outnumbered. The ordeal is considered a vow, not a test: once accepted, the warrior is responsible for carrying their people forward wherever they go.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often see Lastblood barbarians as frightening but dependable: dangerous at the edge of civilization, yet the first warriors trusted to defend a village under attack. Nobles may regard them as unstable weapons, while displaced communities often treat them as living symbols of survival.
