Ooze Sorcery

Ooze Sorcery is the art of channeling magic through mutable, semi-living matter. Ooze sorcerers reshape their bodies, spread corrosive arcana across the battlefield, and survive wounds that would kill ordinary spellcasters. Their magic is not merely destructive: it is adaptive, patient, and difficult to contain. At the table, this subclass is a resilient control-oriented sorcerer that uses temporary hit points, restrained enemies, difficult terrain, and flexible positioning to dominate close and mid-range encounters.

You are a Sorcerer spellcaster. Your subclass does not grant additional spells known or prepared; it modifies how your Sorcerer spells interact with Acid, Cold, and Poison damage, temporary hit points, movement, and battlefield terrain.

5th-Level Spells

Cloudkill A devastating poisonous area effect suited to a master of airborne toxins.
Transmute Rock Lets the sorcerer soften, reshape, or solidify terrain like a living mass.
Wall of Stone Contrasts the subclass's fluidity by allowing it to trap enemies in hardened structures.
Creation Produces temporary organic or alchemical matter for inventive problem-solving.

Multiclassing

A character multiclassing into Sorcerer must meet the 2024 multiclassing prerequisites for Sorcerer. Ooze Sorcery features use Charisma, Sorcery Points, Sorcerer spells, and your Sorcerer spell save DC. Temporary hit points from Living Mantle do not stack with other temporary hit points.

Proficiencies

No additional weapon, armor, or tool proficiencies. You retain the Sorcerer's spellcasting training and use Charisma for your Sorcerer spell attack rolls and spell save DC.

Training & Initiation

Most Ooze Sorcerers awaken naturally after contact with a magical ooze, a failed alchemical experiment, or an inherited mutation in their bloodline. Formal training involves learning to maintain a stable humanoid shape, safely vent corrosive magic, and distinguish hunger from instinct. Initiates commonly spend weeks in sealed chambers observing harmless slimes, practicing breath control, and casting through carefully measured changes in body temperature and density.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often find Ooze Sorcerers unsettling, especially when their skin becomes translucent or their footsteps leave residue. They are nevertheless valued in cities plagued by sewer monsters, alchemical spills, and corrosive curses. Wealthy institutions may treat them as dangerous specialists, while rural communities are more likely to confuse them with monsters or witches.
