Warlock Patron: The Verdant Accord

The Verdant Accord is a warlock patron formed from an ancient truce between Sylvros’s mortal Evergreen Courts and the deep fey powers of the Wayfarer’s Mist. Its pact is not a person, court, or sovereign intelligence, but a surviving fragment of agreement that has developed a will of its own. You serve as its witness, interpreter, and sometimes unwilling enforcer. Your magic turns negotiation into compulsion, escape into mist, and the natural world into a boundary no enemy may cross without consequence. Both mortal courts and rogue fey regard you with unease, because your loyalty belongs to the promise itself rather than either faction.

Uses the Warlock’s Pact Magic spellcasting, with Charisma as the spellcasting ability. The subclass adds nature, negotiation, concealment, and fey-boundary magic to the Warlock spell list.

3rd Level

Plant Growth Transform a region into an overgrown maze or restore exhausted land.
Speak with Plants Question the silent witnesses rooted along ancient borders.

4th Level

Dominate Beast Assert the Accord’s authority over a beast that threatens the truce.
Freedom of Movement Cross roots, water, and magical restraints without surrendering your mobility.

5th Level

Awaken Give a tree or beast a voice and a new role in the living treaty.
Commune with Nature Seek the land’s memory across a wide region.

Multiclassing

This subclass follows the Warlock’s normal multiclassing rules. A character multiclassing into Warlock must meet the standard Charisma 13 requirement. The Verdant Accord grants no additional armor, weapon, or tool proficiencies.

Proficiencies

Uses the Warlock’s normal proficiencies: Light armor, simple weapons, and one skill from the Warlock skill list. The Verdant Accord provides no additional proficiencies.

Training & Initiation

Most Verdant Accord warlocks are initiated during a crisis involving a broken promise, a disputed border, or a passage through the Wayfarer’s Mist. The candidate must speak an oath before an ancient treaty-stone, living tree, or mist-veiled threshold, then accept a fragment of the Accord’s authority. The pact may answer in the voice of leaves, distant bells, or a stranger whose face the initiate has never seen. Training focuses on reading layered promises, resisting fey manipulation, surviving wilderness crossings, and knowing when a truce must be enforced rather than renewed.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often see Verdant Accord warlocks as ominous but useful mediators. Sylvros’s Evergreen Courts may treat them as politically inconvenient witnesses, while fey loyal to the Briar Court regard them as traitors to a broken order. Villagers tend to trust their defense of boundaries, but remain wary of their ability to command emotion and vanish into mist.
