Cardwielder

Cardwielders are awakened hunters who turn probability, misdirection, and murderous precision into a single fighting art. They fight through a conjured deck of empowered cards, chaining suits into tactical effects, throwing razor-edged attacks, creating barriers, teleporting through illusions, and forcing enemies to gamble against impossible odds. A Cardwielder is strongest when constantly moving and changing tactics, balancing prepared combinations against the danger of drawing a disastrous hand.

Multiclassing

To multiclass into Cardwielder, a character should have Agility 14 and either Hunter Rank B or proficiency with a precision-based combat skill. When multiclassing out, retain access to the Awakened Deck but use half your Cardwielder level, rounded down, to determine maximum Focus and card damage. Cardwielder features that require a Perfect Hand cannot be used unless you have at least three Cardwielder levels.

Training & Initiation

A candidate must survive an awakening trial involving a sealed deck, a personal fear, and a choice made under impossible odds. Most receive training from a Cardwielder guild in sleight of hand, evasive movement, precision throwing, tactical deception, and awakened-item control. The final initiation requires creating a Blank Card from a memory the candidate is willing to risk losing.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often find Cardwielders entertaining until they see one fight. Their theatrical style attracts fans, gamblers, and sponsors, but their ability to teleport, deceive, and manipulate chance makes governments and guild leaders wary. Many civilians consider them lucky heroes; experienced hunters know that every Cardwielder eventually draws a dangerous hand.
