Sanguine Battle Warden

Sanguine Battle Wardens are melee spellcasters who turn blood into force, edge, armor, and ammunition. They draw power from their own health or from bloodied enemies and corpses, balancing battlefield aggression against the danger of self-inflicted exhaustion. A Warden can fight with ordinary weapons, but their signature arms are temporary constructs formed in an instant from crimson matter and bound by will. At higher advancement tiers, they can sheath themselves in blood armor, harvest battlefield remains, and shape living blood into devastating magic.

Spellcasting & Powers

Half-caster blood magic. The Warden uses Willpower to cast and spends Blood Reserve points to fuel spells. Their magic focuses on melee enhancement, physical control, temporary weapons, armor, life transfer, bleeding, and battlefield manipulation.

Tier 1: Blood Rites

Bloodsense Original Creation: Detects nearby blood, wounded creatures, and recent deaths through walls or darkness.
Crimson Spark Original Creation: Fires a short-range lance of blood that deals minor supernatural damage and marks the target.
Mend Flesh Original Creation: Closes a shallow wound on a touched creature, restoring a small amount of Hit Points at the cost of 1 Blood Reserve.
Weapon Shape Original Creation: Forms a temporary blood blade, club, spear, or similar melee weapon.

Tier 2: Hardened Veins

Blood Hook Original Creation: Creates a tether that pulls a creature or object a short distance.
Coagulate Original Creation: Slows bleeding and grants a bonus to Endurance tests against ongoing physical injury.
Red Veil Original Creation: Forms a drifting screen of blood mist that lightly obscures an area.
Sanguine Bolt Original Creation: Launches several hardened blood shards against one or more nearby targets.

Tier 3: Warden Arts

Blood Armor Original Creation: Covers the target in protective blood plating that grants temporary Damage Reduction.
Hemorrhagic Brand Original Creation: Marks a wounded target, causing additional damage when it moves or attacks.
Life Draw Original Creation: Damages a nearby blood-bearing creature and restores a smaller amount of Hit Points to the caster.
Red Tether Original Creation: Restrains or anchors a wounded creature with a supernatural blood cord.

Tier 4: Scarlet Mastery

Bloodstorm Original Creation: Whips a small area with cutting blood, damaging creatures and making movement hazardous.
Shared Pulse Original Creation: Links willing allies so they can distribute a portion of incoming damage among themselves.
Corpse Arsenal Original Creation: Converts a corpse into several temporary weapons, shields, or ammunition bundles.
Vascular Rupture Original Creation: Causes a blood-bearing target to suffer severe internal pain and a penalty to physical actions after a failed Endurance test.

Tier 5: Sovereign Blood

Crimson Ascension Original Creation: Temporarily transforms the caster into a living blood-forged champion with increased speed, defense, and melee damage.
Mass Hemostasis Original Creation: Stops bleeding and stabilizes several creatures in a broad area, while weakening hostile blood magic.
Red Dominion Original Creation: Controls blood spilled across a battlefield to create barriers, restraints, and moving weapons.
Heart’s Reprieve Original Creation: Prevents a willing creature from dying for a brief duration, after which the delayed wounds return.

Multiclassing

To multiclass into Sanguine Battle Warden, a character should have at least 50 Willpower or Strength and training with melee weapons. They gain Blood Reserve, Blood Price, and Crimson Armament, but use their total character level rather than class level to determine spell tiers and Blood Reserve maximum. The GM may restrict access to Bloodbound Spellcasting if the character has no formal training in blood magic.

Training & Initiation

Training begins with anatomy, first aid, weapon drills, meditation, and strict instruction in consent and restraint. Initiates learn to draw a single controlled measure of their own blood and hold it in a symbolic weapon shape. Advancement requires surviving increasingly demanding rites, including fighting while injured, harvesting from a battlefield without losing control, and swearing a personal blood oath witnessed by a senior Warden.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often fear Sanguine Battle Wardens because their powers visibly resemble torture or necromancy. Soldiers and surgeons may respect them, especially when Wardens use their own blood rather than harvesting from civilians. In regions where blood magic is outlawed, even a heroic Warden may be treated as a criminal.
