Sylaerith Shadow-Cleft
Ancient echoes of lawless men drown in the snarls of nature's reclaimers.
A jagged fissure in the hillside leads into a humid subterranean complex reclaimed by the wild. Roots of ancient trees pierce the limestone ceilings, and the air is heavy with the scent of wet fur and damp earth.
The air is cool and smells of petrichor and musk. Light is provided only by patches of bioluminescent moss and the occasional sunbeam filtering through cracks. Low growls and the constant dripping of water echo off the smooth stone walls.
☠ Threat
A territorial Crag Cat and its panther mate have claimed the deepest chamber as their den. Their predatory presence has driven smaller, more aggressive beasts toward the entrance, making the cave increasingly dangerous for the curious youths of Sylaerith who often dare each other to enter.
History
Fifty years ago, the Crimson Coil bandits used these natural caverns as a staging ground for raids on the Sylaerith trade routes. After a bloody internal feud, the survivors fled, leaving their rudimentary fortifications to rot. Since then, the local wildlife has moved in, and nature has slowly erased the signs of human occupation, leaving behind a treacherous maze of beasts and forgotten history.
