FAQ
How does the dungeon layout work?
Our generator uses a tree-growth algorithm inspired by Watabou's One Page Dungeon. It grows rooms from the entrance with locally symmetric branches, then adds loop connections for interesting exploration paths.
Can I use these maps in my campaign?
Absolutely! The interactive SVG map can be exported and the full room list is printable. All content is generated for D&D 5E by default with other system support.
What sizes of dungeon can I generate?
From small (5-8 rooms) for quick encounters to massive (26-40 rooms) for full session dungeons. Each room includes AI-generated descriptions, monsters, traps, and treasure.
What is the CharGen Dungeon Generator?
The CharGen Dungeon Generator is an AI tool that produces procedural Dyson-style dungeon maps with rooms, corridors, traps, encounters, and AI-keyed descriptions for tabletop RPGs in under 60 seconds. Each generated dungeon includes a named site with a one-paragraph history, a procedurally generated map with 8-20 rooms and corridors, AI-written room descriptions covering sights, sounds, smells, and read-aloud text, monsters scaled to D&D 5E or Pathfinder 2E party level, traps and hazards with mechanical effects, treasure tied to the dungeon's lore, secrets, and 3-5 plot hooks.
Unlike static dungeon tables, the layout is symmetrical and printable, the keying is unique to each generation, and rooms can be regenerated individually. Outputs save to the World Codex, export to PDF and PNG, and share as public crawlable pages. Free to start; premium models on Plus and above.
