The Choking Moss Grotto
The emerald silence hides a hunger that never sleeps.
A damp, limestone cavern system overrun by aggressive, sentient flora and thick, bioluminescent spores. The air is heavy with the scent of wet earth and sickly sweet decay.
The cave is lit by a dim, greenish phosphorescence from hanging moss. Sound is muffled by the thick vegetation, and a constant, rhythmic dripping echoes from the ceiling.
☠ Threat
The Root-Mother, a corrupted dryad fused into a massive, necrotic tree, rules the depths. She manipulates the fungal network to lure travelers inside, turning their bodies into mulch to fuel her expansion. Her influence is slowly creeping toward the surface, threatening to choke out the nearby forest with her toxic spores.
History
Originally a natural spring, the cave was transformed decades ago by a renegade druid circle seeking to bridge the gap between stone and plant life. Their ritual went horribly wrong when they tapped into a vein of abyssal energy, causing the vegetation to turn predatory. The druids were consumed by their own creations, and now their spirits are bound to the very moss that coats the walls.
