Cinder-Vein Mine
The echoes of pickaxes still ring against the blood-stained quartz.
A shallow excavation once rich in fire-salts, now abandoned to shadows and dust. Crude timber supports groan under the weight of the mountain above as the air grows heavy with the scent of old soot.
The air smells of sulfur and damp earth. Sounds of dripping water and distant metallic scraping echo through the tunnels. Lighting is provided by dim orange sputtering torches, and the temperature is chilly but humid.
☠ Threat
A disgruntled Hobgoblin Captain named Krazak has turned the mine into a staging post for raids, using the ghosts of the mine to scare off locals. He is currently stockpiling weapons and gold for a larger assault on the nearby village of Oakhaven, bolstered by a small pack of well-trained goblins and trained beasts.
History
Originally dug by the Iron-Fist Clan to fuel their forges, the Cinder-Vein was abandoned forty years ago after a pocket of toxic gas killed the miners. Rumors suggest the miners did not stay dead, or that something else moved into the dark hollows to claim the remaining salts. Recently, a band of hobgoblins has moved in, using the mine as a fortified base for highway robbery.
