The King's Drain
The filth of the crown hides a path to the light.
A network of damp, stone-lined tunnels beneath the castle city. Originally built as a discreet exit for royalty, it has been overtaken by sludge and ravenous vermin.
The air is thick with the scent of sulfur and stale water. Every footstep splashes in shallow, oily water, and the distant sound of chitinous legs scraping on stone keeps the nerves on edge.
☠ Threat
A massive, ancient sludge worm known as the Great Devourer has turned the junction into its feeding ground. Its presence has warped the local ecosystem, drawing in smaller parasites and flooding the upper tunnels with its foul, paralyzing secretions.
History
Constructed during the reign of King Alaric the Paranoid, these tunnels were designed to allow the royal family to flee during a siege. Over a century of neglect and a collapsed sluice gate turned the passage into a stagnant breeding ground for subterranean parasites.
