Barrow of the Bone-Keepers
Death is a revolving door for those who serve the Silver Hand.
A subterranean necropolis carved into cold limestone, where the air is heavy with the scent of dried flowers and old parchment. Long-dead priests and their guardians pace the silent halls, protecting the remains of a forgotten order.
The air is freezing and carries the bitter tang of salt and ancient dust. Flickering blue phosphorescent lichen provides dim light, casting long and erratic shadows that seem to dance on the walls. The sound of distant, rhythmic chanting occasionally echoes through the stone corridors, though no source is ever found.
☠ Threat
High Prelate Malakor, a Wight of immense vanity and spite, rules the deeper chambers. He possesses the power to command the lesser undead throughout the barrow and seeks to harvest the souls of adventurers to fully restore his own withered physical form. His presence exerts a chilling aura that slows the movements of the living and drains their resolve.
History
The Barrow was built centuries ago by the Order of the Silver Hand, a sect of clerics obsessed with preserving their ancestors bodies for an eventual resurrection. When the order fell to a rival cult, the sanctum was sealed to trap the spirits of the deceased within. Over time, the magic meant for preservation curdled into necromancy, raising the interred as restless husks who view all intruders as sacrilegious thieves.
