The Ironbound Scriptorium
The rhythmic grinding of gears is the only heartbeat this tomb has left.
A precisely carved underground complex of cold stone and reinforced iron. Once a hub of arcane engineering, it now serves as a lethal tomb for its long-dead creators.
The air is chilled and smells of ozone and stale grease. Dim blue light flickers from crystals embedded in the stone arches, casting long, geometric shadows across the floor. A low-frequency hum vibrates through the soles of any boots on the stone floor.
☠ Threat
The Iron Warden, a malfunctioning Helmed Horror, oversees the complex. It treats all biological life as a containment breach that must be neutralized with extreme prejudice. It moves silently through the shadows of the central hall, waiting for the sound of footfalls to trigger its logic circuits.
History
Built by the Iron Circle, a cabal of rogue artificers, this facility was used to forge sentient constructs. A century ago, a surge in the central power core caused the automated security to view the creators as intruders. The facility locked down, trapping the artificers within their own symmetrical prison where they eventually starved or turned to undeath.
