The Sanctum of the Vermin God

The squeaking of thousands of hidden voices echoes through the marble halls.

A once-grand cathedral of healing has been subverted by a sprawling wererat cult. The air is thick with the scent of musk and the sound of constant, frantic scratching within the walls.

The temperature is uncomfortably humid, and the lighting is provided by flickering green-flame torches. A pervasive smell of rotting grain and wet fur clings to everything, accompanied by the distant sound of chimes ringing at odd intervals.

☠ Threat

Scurry-Blade Valerius, a Wererat Warlord of immense cunning, orchestrates the cult from the high altar. He is currently infusing the temple's holy font with a concentrated strain of the 'Black Squeak' plague. If he succeeds, the city's water supply will turn its citizens into feral, controllable vermin by the next full moon.

History

Built as the Gilded Spire of Abundia, this temple served as a sanctuary for the sick. Three generations ago, the Wererat King Scurry-Blade led a night of carnage, infiltrating through the sewers to slaughter the clergy. The cult has since repurposed the holy site into a laboratory for concocting a lycanthropic plague meant to topple the city above.
