The Marrow-Sump Sewers
Even the filth of the city cannot mask the stench of ancient rot.
A sprawling subterranean network of masonry and sludge beneath the city streets. It serves as both a waste system and a forgotten tomb for those the surface world wishes to forget.
The air is heavy with the smell of sulfur and methane, accompanied by the constant sound of dripping water. Dim green luminescence from bioluminescent mold provides just enough light to see the floating filth in the black water.
☠ Threat
Malphas the Drowned, a Proto-Lich who narrowly escaped death during the Great Plunge. He is currently harvesting enough soul-essence from the city's refuse to complete his ascension. His presence has drawn Orc scavengers and Goblin tinkers who serve him in exchange for protection and scraps of dark magic.
History
Built by the Ash-Hague dynasty five centuries ago to handle the city's expansion, the sewers were once a marvel of engineering. After a catastrophic flood drowned the lower wards, the deepest levels were abandoned to the muck. Recently, a disgraced necromancer named Malphas has occupied the dry sumps, raising the drowned corpses to build a silent, skeletal labor force.
