Breachwatch Fort
Where the siege ended, the dead kept watch.
This ruined battlement once guarded a coastal road and a small harbor, but a brutal siege shattered its walls and left the outpost half-swallowed by sand and surf. Now the beach approaches, shattered towers, and cramped interior rooms form a dangerous little dungeon where old soldiers, opportunistic scavengers, and something worse still cling to the wrecked fort.
Salt air slips through shattered arrow slits, carrying kelp, old blood, and damp ash. The fort groans in the wind, and every footstep echoes off broken stone, rusted iron, and half-buried timbers. At night, the surf below drowns out most sounds, but inside the battlements the dungeon still feels watchful, as if the siege never truly ended.
☠ Threat
The ruined fort is haunted by the siege's final command, led by a drowned battalion captain who refuses to accept defeat. His surviving loyalists and scavengers are trapped in the aftermath, while the captain's war-drowned revenant commands the deeper chambers and turns the battlements into a killing ground for intruders.
History
The battlement was built by the Crown as a coastal warning fort, meant to keep raiders from landing along the beach road and to signal nearby ships. When a long siege cut off resupply, the garrison was betrayed from within, the walls were breached from sea and shore, and the surviving officers sealed the command level before dying or vanishing. The fort was never properly reclaimed.
Encounter Table
CRMud-streaked scavengers drifting between the beach rocks and the broken yard, looking for tools, coin, or easy prey.
A salted corpse in patched armor patrols the corridors in a slow, deliberate loop, drawn by the sound of intruders.
A sea-warped predator with crabbed joints and barnacle armor slips through cracks and broken masonry.
Rumours & Whispers
The old fort still flashes signals on storm nights, even though no one has lit its beacons for years.
A shipwrecked fisherman swore he saw armored dead patrolling the battlements at low tide.
Smugglers use a hidden inlet beneath the ruins, but only when the surf is loud enough to mask their lanterns.
A noble house once paid to have the siege records burned, which means something in the fort could ruin them.
There is gold in the command room, but the captain who guards it never left the fort alive.

Corridor Notes
Broken arrow slits open onto the beach, letting in cold spray and the occasional hiss of arrows fired from the waterline.
A collapsed section of wall has been reinforced with driftwood and scavenged boat planks, creating a narrow choke point with clear cover on both sides.
The corridor floor is slick with salt and crushed shells, making quiet movement difficult and leaving obvious tracks in the damp grit.
