The Filth-Choked Cloaca

The city's sins wash away to fester and grow in the dark.

30 roomssewermedium

A vast, labyrinthine network of crumbling brick tunnels and toxic sludge basins located deep beneath the capital. The structure is a decaying remnant of ancient engineering, now claimed by things that shun the light.

The air is a heavy blanket of sulfur and decay, vibrating with the constant rhythmic drip of condensation. Flickering bioluminescent fungi cast eerie green shadows against moss-covered bricks, while the temperature remains a stifling, humid heat.

☠ Threat

The Silt-King, a massive and unusually intelligent Otyugh, rules the depths with a telepathic grip over lesser scavengers. It orchestrates a network of wererats and cultists who believe the city's waste is a divine gift. The King seeks to clog the main outflows, intending to drown the upper streets in filth to expand its subterranean kingdom.

History

Built three centuries ago during the city's golden age, these sewers were designed to be the crown jewel of urban planning. Following the Great Pox, several sections were sealed off to contain the contagion, leading to a forgotten underworld. Over decades, outcasts and mutated creatures transformed the maintenance tunnels into a sovereign domain of rot.
