Tseret's Crypt

Nine blue lamps burn around a sealed coffin, and every flame bends toward the same unseen mourner.

13 roomscryptmedium

The Crypt of Tseret lies beneath a collapsed funerary chapel, its chambers cut around older burial shafts. Its priests once preserved the dead through disciplined rites, but the crypt now shelters restless guardians, stolen grave goods, and a corpse-saint whose prayers have become commands.

Cold air leaks through every seam, carrying the smells of wet limestone, lamp oil, and old incense. Blue corpse-lights burn in shallow wall bowls, while distant stone knocks and the soft scrape of bone travel through the crypt.

☠ Threat

Tseret's preserved corpse lies within room-11, sustained by offerings stolen from the surrounding graves. He no longer speaks as a priest, but as a vessel for every spirit bound by his rites. His commands animate bones, extinguish protective flames, and draw the dead toward any living creature that disturbs the inner chambers.

History

The crypt was cut by Tseret of the Nine Lamps, a funerary magistrate whose name survives only in damaged inscriptions. He built the first chambers to preserve honored dead during a plague, then expanded the complex when wealthy families paid for private shrines. After Tseret died, his priests sealed his body below the chapel, fearing that his final rites had bound too many spirits to his will.
