Ancient scales scrape against cold stone in the silence of the dead.
A subterranean complex carved into volcanic rock, serving as a tomb for an ancient red dragon's cultists and its own final resting place. The heat of the earth still lingers, mixing with the chill of the grave to create an oppressive, dry atmosphere.
The air smells of sulfur and old parchment. Low, rhythmic thuds like a slow heartbeat echo through the halls, and the temperature rises steadily as one descends.
☠ Threat
Ignisfer has risen as an Adult Red Dracolich, a skeletal titan of ash and malice. Its presence causes the ground to tremble and subterranean gases to ignite spontaneously. It seeks to consume the souls of intruders to regain its full corporeal power and eventually take wing to reclaim the surface world.
History
Built eight centuries ago by the Order of the Burning Wing, this crypt was dedicated to the red dragon Ignisfer the Eternal. After the dragon was wounded in a forgotten war, it retreated here to die, though its presence warped the site into a locus of necromantic fire. The cultists were buried alongside their master to serve him in the afterlife, their bones now infused with draconic embers.
