The Sibilant Hollow
The air is heavy with the scent of musk and the sound of scales on stone.
A humid, multi-layered complex carved into the limestone cliffs, serving as a nest for a rising yuan-ti cult. Flickering green-flame lanterns cast long, dancing shadows across walls etched with serpentine patterns.
The air is stiflingly warm and damp, smelling of ozone and rotting meat. Dim lighting comes from phosphorescent moss and oil lamps filled with emerald oil. Constant low-frequency hissing echoes through the halls.
☠ Threat
S'yrthess, a calculating Yuan-ti Malison, seeks to evolve his followers into more powerful forms through dark alchemy. His presence is felt through the constant patrolling of his pureblood spies and the various traps designed to capture, rather than kill, intruders for his vats. If he is not stopped, he will soon unleash a wave of serpent-hybrids upon the neighboring borderlands.
History
Originally a natural cave system used by lizardfolk shamans, the hollow was seized and expanded by the Malison S'yrthess decades ago. He transformed the primitive caves into a structured lair to facilitate the breeding of serpentine monstrosities and the worship of forbidden reptilian deities. It has recently become a hub for kidnapping local villagers to use as experimental subjects or sacrifices.
