Marshfall Ruins
The stones still pray, but something beneath them answers.
These ruins were once a small sanctum built atop older stone, then hollowed out from within by something not meant to be worshiped. Now the passages echo with alien murmurs, broken rites, and the scrape of things that learned to crawl where prayers used to be spoken.
Cold stone sweats with briny damp, and every hall carries a faint pressure behind the eyes like a storm about to break. Scraps of old incense, mold, and coppery blood cling to the air, while distant clicking and wet whispering drift through cracked masonry lit by guttering blue fungus.
☠ Threat
A warped aberration called the Echo-Choir has seeped into the ruin through the buried chamber below the shrine. It speaks through stolen thoughts, bending lesser creatures into guardians and using the boss chamber as a nest for its manifested will. If it fully completes the old rite etched into the walls, the ruins will become a beacon for things lurking beneath the marsh.
History
This ruin began as a roadside shrine and watch post built by local priests to bless travelers and ward off sickness from the marsh. Decades later, the ground beneath it collapsed into an older buried chamber, and the keepers found a living intelligence within. They sealed the breach in panic, but the thing they awoke had already hollowed out minds and stone alike.
