The Unopened Mausoleum

Green light trembles across marble faces while a bronze voice whispers, 'Hold the eastern gate.'

8 roomsMausoleumdeadly

Beneath the buried ruins of an ancient elvish city stands a compact mausoleum of glass, marble, and imperial arches. The richest citizens were sealed here during the city's final war, but their spirits never accepted defeat, and now every chamber preserves a different moment of their last night.

Cold air flows through the crypt as if breathed by something sleeping below. Pale green light leaks through cracked glass panels, illuminating marble dust, old bloodstains, and mosaics of crowned elves being led into war. Every sound carries too far, followed by distant glass chimes and the scrape of stone lids shifting.

☠ Threat

The central tomb contains Sakhrevan, called the Last Magistrate, an elvish spirit who believes the war is still underway. He commands the dead through old military oaths and punishes anyone who disturbs the city's wealth. The deeper threat is the collective memory bound beneath him, which can awaken every noble spirit at once if the seals are broken or the magistrate is destroyed carelessly.

History

The mausoleum was built by the imperial elvish city of Vashkora, using glass architecture copied from the founders' distant homeland and adapted into underground Roman-style vaults. Wealthy magistrates, generals, and patrons were buried here with their possessions. During the city's final war, the nobles demanded that a captured oracle preserve their memories, but the ritual failed, binding their grief and fear to the crypt forever.
