The Lich-King's Maw
Silence reigns where the pulse of life has long since expired.
A subterranean complex carved from obsidian and bone, serving as the inner sanctum for a rising necromancer. The air is frigid and carries the metallic tang of dried blood and ancient dust.
Pale blue phosphorescent moss provides dim light. The sound of distant, rhythmic chanting echoes through the halls, and a bone-chilling cold persists regardless of fire or clothing.
☠ Threat
Malakor the Unmade. Though he is currently a weakened lich, his influence animates every shadow and corpse within these walls. He seeks to regain his phylactery, which is rumored to be hidden in the very heart of the Maw, using aberrations to guard his most precious secrets.
History
Originally a noble burial vault, it was desecrated centuries ago by the arch-lich Malakor. He twisted the architecture to mirror the void, turning a place of rest into a factory for undeath and eldritch research. Local legends say the stones themselves were soaked in the blood of the architects to ensure they never spoke of the layout.
Encounter Table
CRDark silhouettes that peel off the walls to drain the strength of the living.

Brave travelers say the walls of the Maw are made of the ground bones of a thousand slaves.
