Aundairian War Cache
A bloodied military door stands open beneath the fern-covered slope, and blue ward-light pulses beyond it.
The Aundairian War Cache is a compact Last War supply installation buried beneath a fern-covered slope near Feathered Rest. Its orderly military construction has survived beside broken wards, unstable storage systems, fresh blood, and the remains of two men who reached its protected depths for very different reasons.
Cold, dust-dry air carries the smells of iron, old parchment, and ozone. Failing blue-white ward-light pulses through cracked conduits, while distant clicks, grinding stone, and occasional bursts of static make the cache seem to breathe around every intruder.
☠ Threat
The cache’s surviving security network remains the primary threat. Its inspection wards classify intruders by weapons, movement, and attempts to access restricted stores, while damaged conduits create unpredictable surges and collapsing barriers. The former officer and Jules are dead, but their violent confrontation has left the deepest chambers unstable, and the courier’s message points toward a conspiracy reaching into the nearby Cannith mine.
History
Aundairian military engineers built the cache during the Last War as an emergency depot for soldiers operating beyond ordinary supply lines. Practical chambers stored field equipment, records, arcane materiel, and Eberron dragonshards behind layered inspection wards. When the war ended, the installation was sealed and forgotten until Donigi discovered it, followed later by a wounded former officer and Jules Marcen.
Encounter Table
CRA damaged inspection orb floats through the service passages, its lens projecting fragments of old military commands.
A crawling knot of animated copper wire and broken crystal lamps drags itself along the walls, seeking active arcane energy.
Rumours & Whispers
A fortune in Eberron dragonshards lies beneath the Riverwood, sealed away by Aundairian soldiers.
Donigi once found the cache locked by magic, but Jules Marcen later found its door open and bloodied.
The defenses were built to stop enemy soldiers and unauthorized personnel, not ordinary thieves.
Jules carried Donigi’s Angel’s Trumpet Key inside and never returned.
A letter from the cache may connect the old military site to trouble at a Cannith mine.
Quest Hooks

Ten Potions of Healing and the Heart-Root Cup
Quest giver: Eldon Vell and Cora Tamm
Eldon Vell and Cora Tamm ask the party to retrieve their rattleweed supply before they run out. A service route near the cache may provide a safer approach to their hut, but the route is still exposed to failing military wards.
Rattleweed, local goodwill, and a practical guide to nearby trails
Corridor Notes
Faded Aundairian warning plaques repeat inspection commands in Draconic and Common. Several have been clawed or struck, leaving the final instructions unreadable.
Narrow service recesses contain dead crystal lamps, bundled copper wire, and inspection tools fused together by magical heat.
Stone security partitions can slide from wall recesses when the cache detects weapons, forced doors, or unauthorized movement.
