The Echoing Vaults
Time folds and mirrors itself within these silent stone veins.
A cluster of ancient runic chambers buried beneath the seabed, pulsing with raw temporal energy. The layout defies traditional logic, feeling both ancient and perpetually newly birthed.
The air is damp and smells of ozone and ancient dust. A soft blue light pulses from runic carvings, accompanied by the constant, rhythmic hum of unseen machinery. Sounds are muffled and often repeat with a three-second delay.
☠ Threat
The Echoing Chronomancer, a silver-skinned entity existing across multiple timelines simultaneously, dominates the depths. Its very presence causes the vault to glitch, manifesting 'Echoes' of past intruders and pulling fragments of the party's own memories into the physical realm. If not contained, the Chronomancer's instability could cause a localized collapse of the timeline.
History
Built by an extinct sect of mages known as the Chrono-weavers, these vaults were designed to anchor specific moments of history within the Underweave. Following a cataclysmic temporal backflow, the facility was swallowed by the sea and sealed. Recent tectonic shifts have cracked the seals, allowing the vaults' unnatural heartbeat to resonate once more through the ocean floor.
