Sanctum of the Silver Veil
The path between waking and dream is paved in forgotten silence.
A mountain-carved retreat dedicated to the goddess Vaelira, lost for millennia following a catastrophic collapse. It is a place of sacred boundaries and ritual passage, now inhabited by subterranean predators and choked by ancient debris.
The air is cool and smells of ozone and dry stone. Sound carries strangely, with distant chimes of shifting rock echoing through the halls. Most areas are pitch black, though faint silver luminescence clings to ancient floor carvings.
☠ Threat
The sanctum is geographically unstable, with the threat of total collapse looming in the inner chambers. A territorial Carrion Crawler queen has nested near the mirror, feeding on the remains of any creatures that wander into the depths. Navigating the remaining ritual protections requires patience and observation to avoid triggering mechanical seals designed to bar the unworthy.
History
Built ten thousand years ago, this sanctum served the high attendants of Vaelira, Goddess of Thresholds. The complex was a site for deep meditation and communion with the Mirror of Vaelira, a portal between realms. A massive earthquake shattered the mountain, splitting the sanctuary and sealing its clerics inside. Over time, nature and cave life reclaimed the halls, turning a site of peace into a crumbling, hazardous ruin.
