Othuun's Tomb
Green roots pulse through the cracked sarcophagus while a dead priest opens one golden eye.
The Tomb of Othuun is an abandoned burial complex built for a holy keeper whose name has faded from living memory. Its statues, prayer rooms, and sealed records have been invaded by a parasitic tree growing through the foundations, turning sacred stone into a nest of roots, mold, and restless dead.
Cold, dry air carries the smell of old incense, wet soil, and something sweetly rotten. Pale green light leaks from root-veins in the stone, while distant scraping sounds travel through the walls and dust falls whenever the corrupted roots shift.
☠ Threat
A parasitic tree has rooted through Othuun's burial chamber and fed on the holy magic surrounding his corpse. Its heart-root now animates dead caretakers, twists devotional carvings into hostile shapes, and whispers through the stone. The corruption is guided by the Rootbound Othuun, a corpse fused to the tree and convinced that every living creature must be buried to preserve the tomb's sanctity.
History
The tomb was raised for Othuun of Kereva, a healer-priest who ended a century of plague by binding his own life to a sacred spring. Builders from his distant homeland carried the name Kereva with them, though locals pronounce it poorly. Othuun was buried beneath six chambers of statues, scripture, offerings, and sealed soil so his blessing would endure.
