The Glint-Stone Grotto
The walls have eyes made of crystal, and they are hungry for the warmth of life.
A jagged network of natural limestone caves and ancient mining excavations fused with sentient, corrupting crystals. The air is heavy with the smell of ozone and the rhythmic, unnatural humming of the earth itself.
The grotto glows with a dim, rhythmic violet light from ceiling-mounted crystals. A constant low-frequency thrum vibrates through the floor, and the temperature fluctuates between freezing subterranean drafts and intense elemental heat.
☠ Threat
Xylanthrix, a Corrupted Adult Sapphire Dragon, rules the depths. Driven mad by the Crystal-Rot fusing his scales to the cave walls, he seeks to expand his 'perfect' crystalline garden to the surface. He radiates a psychic hum that lures travelers into the grotto to be converted into crystalline guardians or consumed for their latent magical energy.
History
Originally a mining colony for the Arcanum League, the Grotto was abandoned centuries ago after miners breached a rift to the Elemental Plane of Earth. The released energy mutated the surrounding quartz, creating 'Crystal-Rot'—a magical blight that consumes flesh and stone alike. Now, the ruins serve as the lair for a fallen dragon and its geological abominations.
