Echo-web Cavern
Silk strands vibrate with the scuttle of a hundred hungry legs.
A damp limestone cave system overrun by a colony of giant spiders and their delusional gnome handlers. The tunnels are choked with sticky webbing and littered with the gear of failed explorers.
The air is cold and heavy with the scent of damp earth and bitter almond venom. Faint, blue bioluminescent fungi provide dim illumination, casting long, jittery shadows against the web-covered walls. Distant sounds of water dripping and chittering insects echo constantly.
☠ Threat
Silk-Mother Vora, an unusually large and intelligent giant spider, rules the cavern depths. She has used her rudimentary psychic influence to enthrall the remaining gnomes, turning them into a cult that feeds her intruders. Her presence is heralded by an oppressive, clicking silence that fills the deeper rooms.
History
Originally the private workshop of a gnome tinkerer named Fizzlewick, this site was abandoned when a failed pheromone experiment drew hundreds of spiders from the deep. While Fizzlewick fled, several of his assistants remained, eventually losing their minds to the venomous fumes. Now, a small goblin tribe has moved into the entrance, unaware of the ancient spider-mother lurking deeper within.
