The steady hum of ancient clockwork echoes where a heart should beat.
A deep subterranean crypt filled with the smell of cold iron and ozone. It serves as both a final resting place and a dormant laboratory for an eccentric master of artifice.
The air is chilled and carries a sharp scent of machine oil and ozone. Floating crystals emit a steady, pale blue light that pulses like a slow heartbeat. The faint, rhythmic grinding of distant gears can be heard through the floors.
☠ Threat
The Prime Overseer, a massive and heavily modified Shield Guardian, remains active at the heart of the vault. Originally programmed to maintain the tomb's integrity, its logic core has decayed into paranoia. It now views any living creature as a biological contaminant that must be 'recycled' into raw components or forcibly encased in bronze to stop its inevitable decay.
History
Built two centuries ago by High Artificer Valerius Malus, this vault was intended to ensure his immortality through mechanical preservation. Malus replaced the traditional stone sarcophagi of his lineage with brass canisters and eternal gear-driven guardians. He believed biological decay was a design flaw, leading him to seal himself away within his greatest construction just before the Great Quake closed the entrance.
