Ironshackle Undercroft
Shadows dance where the stones drink magic.
A damp and forgotten basement beneath the royal castle, humming with residual arcane energy. Cobwebs drape over heavy iron-bound doors that conceal the experiments of a vanished court mage.
The air smells of ozone and wet stone, illuminated by flickering blue-white magical sconces. A low-frequency hum vibrates through the soles of boots, and the temperature drops sharply near the library and lab.
☠ Threat
The Arcane Siphon, a flickering rift of raw energy in the heart of the basement, has begun to manifest sentient, hungry spells. This instability threatens to collapse the castle foundations if the fluctuating mana isn't stabilized or contained.
History
Built by the renegade Archmage Valerius three centuries ago, this undercroft served as a secret laboratory for stabilizing raw mana. When the King ordered the mage's arrest, Valerius triggered a magical lockdown, sealing himself and his creations inside. The castle above changed hands many times, but the basement remained a forbidden zone due to the strange noises heard through the floorboards.
