A sprawling network of decaying masonry and sludge-filled channels beneath the capital's streets. It serves as both a waste disposal system and a sanctuary for those the surface world rejected.
The air is humid and smells of sulfur and old decay. Sloshing water and the skittering of rats echo constantly, while green bioluminescent fungi provide dim, flickering light.
☠ Threat
The primary threat is High Priestess Valara, a former cleric who went mad after discovering a sentient ooze in the deep tunnels. She leads a group of fanatics called the Blessed Rot, who are currently gathering alchemical toxins to poison the city's main water reservoir. Her influence draws monstrous vermin and puddings to her side, making the sewers a death trap.
History
The Mire Sluice was constructed three centuries ago by the Guild of Hydrologists to manage the growing city's waste. Following a series of unexplained disappearances among the workers, the city council sealed the lower levels. Now, it has been reclaimed by a cult dedicated to the Rot Mother, who view the city's refuse as a holy cycle of rebirth and decay.
