The Pyre-Heart Sepulcher
The very stone breathes heat, and the shadows flicker with the hunger of a dying sun.
A subterranean crypt carved from basalt and obsidian, originally designed to house the remains of high-ranking sun priests. The air is dangerously thin, shimmering with an unnatural heat that pulses like a heartbeat from the lower levels.
The scent of sulfur and ozone hangs heavy in the dry, 110-degree air. Constant low-frequency vibrations rumble through the floor, and light is provided primarily by veins of glowing magma behind thick glass or stone grates.
☠ Threat
Ignis the Cinderlord, a vengeful Efreeti Noble, rules the depths from a throne of molten slag. He seeks to collapse the seals holding the dungeon's heat, which would trigger a localized volcanic eruption to annihilate the nearby surface cities. His influence causes fire elementals to spawn spontaneously from any open flame within the dungeon walls.
History
Built by the Sun-Drenched Order centuries ago, this sepulcher was a holy site where fire-aspected heroes were interred within magma-heated chambers. However, an elemental imbalance occurred when the Order attempted to bind an Efreeti prince to power the crypt's eternal lanterns. The bind broke, the priests were incinerated, and the sepulcher became a pressurized furnace where elemental spirits now claim the scorched remains of the dead.
Encounter Table
CRA chattering cloud of winged lava imps that spit fire and cackle as they fly through the vents.
