Veyr Family Crypt
Every name carved in the dark is waiting to be remembered.
The crypt descends beneath a ruined hill-fort, its orderly burial halls warped by generations of forbidden rites. Its upper chambers hold abandoned stores, shrines, and prisons, while the lower levels shelter a deathless keeper who has turned the tomb into a machine for preserving souls.
Cold, mineral-rich air carries the smell of wet stone, candle grease, and old dust. Pale blue witchfire burns in cracked skull lamps, while distant chains clink and something below the crypt occasionally exhales through the walls.
☠Threat
Lord Odran Veyr, the deathless curator of the crypt, controls the deeper wards through a crown of black bone. He sends preserved corpses and spectral scribes against intruders, seeking to add their memories to his collection. Every disturbance strengthens his hold, and the humming sealed chamber in room-21 marks the approach to his throne and soul-vault.
History
The crypt was built by House Veyr, a dynasty of grave scholars who feared that war would erase their history. They carved chambers beneath their fortress to preserve bodies, voices, and memories in crystal reliquaries. Their chief embalmer, Lord Odran Veyr, eventually used the archive to bind himself to the dead. When the dynasty fell, Odran remained below, guarding a legacy no living heir came to claim.
