The Quiet Meridian
Every forgotten name becomes another voice in the dark.
The Quiet Meridian is a buried observatory built around a device that once measured the boundaries of mortal memory. Its chambers remain intact, but the old instruments now feed a presence that steals names, faces, and purpose from those who linger. The deeper halls are guarded by remnants of the observatory staff and the thing they accidentally awakened.
Cold, dry air carries the smell of dust, lamp oil, and faintly scorched parchment. Pale blue light leaks from cracked glass lenses and hidden mineral veins, while distant chimes ring whenever someone speaks above a whisper.
☠ Threat
The Nameless Interval is a bodiless intelligence trapped beneath the observatory. It manifests through reflections, whispers, and stolen memories, gradually causing intruders to forget why they entered or whom they trust. Its vessel, the former chief astronomer Odran Vey, now rules the inner chamber as a hollow prophet and seeks to break the seal by feeding the entity the names of living people.
History
The Quiet Meridian was built by the astronomer-priests of Veyr to chart impossible stars and predict disasters before they reached the world. Beneath the observatory, they found a living void called the Nameless Interval and constructed a brass lens to study it. When the lens began answering questions in the voices of the dead, the priests sealed the complex and sacrificed their identities to keep the entity asleep.
