The Buried Scriptorium
Knowledge dies in silence beneath the rising tide of volcanic grit.
A slanted temple of learning partially swallowed by the ash-fields of the Outskirts. Grey silt spills through cracked ceilings, and the air is heavy with the smell of scorched parchment and ancient ozone.
The sound of sand falling through glass echoes constantly. Lighting is provided by dim, flickering amber crystals. The temperature is uncomfortably warm and the air is bone-dry.
☠ Threat
The Archivist of Cinders, a massive golem fused from millions of charred scroll fragments and volcanic glass. It functions as the dungeon's core, aggressively defending the records from 'biological contaminants.' It perceives any living creature as a threat to the preservation of the sacred ash.
History
Built by the Ash-Seekers centuries ago, this sanctum was designed to catalog the slow death of the world. The scholars believed that by recording the names of the stars as they faded, they could halt the inevitable decay. However, a localized volcanic eruption buried the library alive, turning its keepers into the very cinders they once studied.

Rumours & Whispers
