The Verdant Sepulcher
Life hungers within the silence of the stone.
A forgotten temple reclaimed by aggressive, sentient flora where roots split the heavy flagstones and pollen fills the air like a thick, choking mist. The rhythmic thumping of a wooden heart echoes through the halls, suggesting the structure itself has become a living organism.
The air is hot, humid, and smells of wet earth and sickly-sweet rotting lilies. Dim green bioluminescence glows from moss-covered walls, and the constant dripping of acidic sap creates a soundtrack of soft hisses.
☠ Threat
The Blight-Core is a massive, parasitic plant deity that has replaced the temple's central altar. It possesses a hive mind, controlling every leaf and vine within the dungeon with cold, predatory intelligence. It seeks to consume high-level adventurers to gain enough essence to spread its roots beyond the temple walls and claim the surrounding valley.
History
Originally built as a sanctuary for a circle of monks seeking to fuse their souls with nature, the temple was corrupted by a parasitic spore from the Feywild. This infestation transformed the residents into mindless wooden shells and turned the sacred Heart-Tree into a predatory entity. For centuries, it has grown in secret, luring travelers into its vine-choked depths to serve as organic fertilizer.
