Secure the Emberheart Before the Forest Burns
Secure the Emberheart Before the Forest Burns
Read Aloud
Rusk turns from the cracked altar, one hand raised as the Emberheart amulet spins above him. Fire pours across the hilltop, stones lean and groan, and a burning shape tears free from the relic. Rusk shouts, "Take one more step and the forest burns with you!"

Battlefield Zones
Uneven grass and loose stones circle the ritual site; moving uphill costs no extra movement, but a creature that dashes here must succeed on a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
The cracked altar stands amid sparks and drifting ash; the floating amulet is 5 feet above it, within easy reach of a creature standing on the altar.
Flames crawl through dry brush toward the tree line; a creature entering the area or starting its turn there takes 3 fire damage.
Terrain Levers
- A character can use an action to topple a cracked standing stone with a DC 13 Strength (Athletics) check; it falls in a 10-foot line and creates difficult terrain.
- A character can use an action to smother a ritual-fire patch with water, sand, or a cloak, removing one spreading fire zone.
- A character adjacent to the altar can use an action to make a DC 15 Arcana or Religion check; on a success, the Emberheart Manifestation loses its resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage until the end of its next turn.
