The Fourfold Silence
The Fourfold Silence is a cursed font that punishes loud speech and careless movement. When disturbed, the statues around the basin sing without moving their mouths, filling the room with a pressure that turns sound into pain and obedience.

Defenses
Detection
“A waist-high stone basin filled with clear water, surrounded by cracked tiles and four weathered saintly figures. The water remains perfectly still even when the floor shakes.”
Standard Engagement
A creature touches the water, removes an object from the basin, speaks a deliberate lie within 10 feet, or deals damage to one of the four statues.
The basin emits a low, rising chord. On the following round, the choir affects every creature within 30 feet that can hear it. The sound then fades, leaving the basin still and apparently harmless.
The hazard resets after 1 hour if at least one statue remains intact. Destroyed statues do not regrow, but the remaining statues continue to function.
All creatures within 30 feet who can hear the choir must save versus spells or become deafened for 1d6 turns and suffer 1d6 damage. A successful save causes half damage and prevents deafness.
A creature that fails the save by 5 or more is compelled to kneel and remain silent for 1 round. It cannot willingly speak, shout, or cast spells with verbal components during that round.
The choir fills a room and ignores ordinary doors, though a sealed stone wall blocks it. Creatures outside the affected area are safe unless the sound reaches them through a clear passage.
The statues cannot be silenced by ordinary shouting, smashing furniture, or magical commands that affect only living creatures.
