A wounded courier's map fragment promises more loot if investigated, while a torn banner and iron sigil serve as proof of victory or tools for deception. Among the mundane are small valuables and a single healing potion salvaged from a scavenged saddlebag. The haul is modest but appropriate for a level 1 party: equipment to outfit a recruit, enough coin to pay a night at an inn or buy basic gear, and a clue that can send the adventurers after a richer cache nearby.
