The Caretaker's Chapel Chest

The chest opens with a reluctant groan, releasing the dry scent of old wax, dust, and damp wood. Beneath folded altar linens lie a purse of offerings, a carefully maintained ledger, and a scattering of personal effects. One letter bears a warning about muddy footprints near the sealed crypt, while a cold iron key rests beside it, tagged simply: Crypt. At the very bottom, wrapped in unfamiliar burial cloth, a silver ring catches the faint chapel light.
