The Tale of This Treasure

After clearing the orc warband from the dungeon's lower warrens the party collects what the raiders carried or hoarded. Most of the spoils are practical implements: two serviceable greataxes and a handful of javelins, a worn hide cuirass and a coil of braided boar-hide rope likely scavenged from nearby hunts. The lieutenant's coin purse yields a modest pile of coin and two small saleable gems that suggest the orcs have been preying on caravans. Tucked into a satchel is a valuable +1 greataxe and a vial of potent healing medicine, likely taken from a defeated mercenary or bartered from a visiting trader. Among the trophies are an orc tusk prized for tribal rites, a crude iron key that might open a locked chamber deeper in the complex, and a brittle scrap of map pointing toward a collapsed corridor and a marked chamber. The party can spend time repairing the mundane gear, sell gems and coin in town, investigate the map and the key to unlock the next part of the dungeon, or keep the +1 greataxe and potion for the fights to come.
