Abandoned Hunter's Hut Taken Over by a Black Bear

The party finds a small, weather-beaten hut on the edge of a pine grove. The roof has been trampled and the single hearth holds a cold ring of coals. Signs of a struggle are obvious: overturned stools, shredded blankets, and a thick black pelt draped over the loom. A black bear had been using the hut as a den until the adventurers drove it off. Aside from a few practical items the hunter kept for long days in the woods, the party recovers a crude but serviceable shortbow, a quiver of arrows, and basic camp gear. From the bear they recover a cured pelt and a bundle of claws that might fetch a price at a tanner or be used for crafting. The coins in the pouch and the hunter's gear are modest, but useful for a level 1 party and appropriate for a humble woodsman's savings.
