The twisted remnants of their disintegrated flesh floated ominously in the air before settling into a pile of dust. But it was not just the creatures that had guarded this cavernous trove. The adventurers also faced a squad of bandits led by a charismatic captain who had set up camp nearby, using the beholders to scare off other would-be competitors. After dispatching the bandit captain and his henchmen, the party breathed a sigh of relief while they recovered a significant collection of treasure, clearly hoarded from many past adventures.
